My dad’s talked about this since the early 90’s: Of bringing the whole extended family for a visit to his hometown (more like village). Not that we minded the idea. Back then we only loathed about what the likely quality of basic amenities would be like. After all, there were stories of toilets with no [...] Everytime Caleb’s jie-jie rides her tricycle or her training-wheeled bicycle he’d come up from behind and gladly be pushing her. Never has he asked to be riding it, even though he has Caitlin to see as an example. So, since the tricycle is broken from regular wear and tear (I actually think it’s because Caitlin is [...] She doesn’t find my jokes funny all the time anymore. She doesn’t tell me everything that’s bugging her, or what she is thinking anymore. I saw a bag of her old clothes ready to be given away- that she has grown out of. Spotted a pair of shorts that she likes / wears quite often. Last night was Caitlin’s real experience of Halloween; well, for this Daddee too, actually. Last year’s Halloween in particular (because I can’t remember if 2007’s Halloween left any impression on this then-just under 4 years old), the kids in our building came around all dressed and made up. Caitlin was more than just a little [...] Yup. I made her one… Well actually she made it; I only drew the lines for her to copy the letters from a real one This, and last week, were quite significant for me. My parents are moving to a new gated community along with my two older brothers. What is significant; I guess not just for me, is that our parents have been living in this house since 1984, when it was renovated, and since 1975 on that same plot [...] For the end of Ramadhan month here in Malaysia, we had a really long weekend off work. Caitlin’s school, in fact, had the whole week off (they had a couple of Saturdays of school to make up for closing the whole week). It was also Hot Mummee’s birthday on the 21st Also, Yee yee [...] If it weren’t for the plastic teapot that gives it away, you’d think (I hope) that he was going through and making notes of some of the white papers I had printed to read. As one of the *good examples of Caitlin as the jie-jie is setting, Caleb has also taken an interest in doodling too. [...] Yup- it’s already going to be Friday already tomorrow. Took today and Friday off from work, just to “do stuff” with Caitlin. All week so far she’s been holed up in the apartment with Hot Mummee working from home, and really working. Poor kids haven’t been outdoors at all for some 72 hours or so earlier [...] I was showing Caleb some of the videos I have taken; he does seem to like watching them too, and I kinda condone it ‘cos I remind him of who everyone is especially the relatives. Showed him the tongue action of his jie-jie He immediately copied what he saw! And by the way, having the radio going all [...] I was just going through the photo library on my laptop… and this just occurred to me. Does this look like a hand of a 4 year old? Maybe it does to you. To me it looks more like- maybe a 10 year old’s hand. This was when Auntie Susan and Uncle Jonathan had lunch with us at [...] Caitlin had fever on Sunday. So she didn’t attend her 1st session of her art class (actually it would be her 2nd session, they allowed her a trial session last weekend to assess her: behaviour, “standard” of her skills like drawing & painting, etc, to decide which level / class to put her). We decided [...] Being the youngest I grew up with books and some comics already in the house (as well as contemporary music like The Carpenters, some Beatles, Glen Campbell, John Denver… Oh my I’m scaring myself while I list this) One of the comics that sticks in my head is Peanuts: Charlie Brown & Snoopy, Linus & his [...] With a lack of toys and an abundance of imagination, Caitlin has had to improvise and make pretend toys to spend (some of) her days. Yes I am a pathetic parent letting my kid endure this. Her “skills” in improvising seems to have extended into her homework. See, they are teaching her “long” vowels, like school, food, [...] I am in kinda stressed frame of mind at the moment I have mentioned before about Caitlin’s creative streak. When we are at home just chilling and the kids are watching the idiot box, Caitlin would actually “multitask” and do some handicraft, using the scrap A4 papers that HM and I bring home from the office. [...] I started this blog about 2 years ago now. Caitlin would have been about 2.5 years old then. If memory serves me right, I would have already done this memorable (at least to me) routine with her already: HM was always working late, so it was up to me to tuck Caitlin into bed. At her [...] At one stage I did want to try sporting a crew cut. Call it chicken, call it because-my-hair-is-thinning. It’s because the shape of my head will only make me look (more) silly. But my son sports it well- the second time proves it wasn’t a fluke Sigh… Yes- That is drool on his chin… |
