My dad’s talked about this since the early 90’s: Of bringing the whole extended family for a visit to his hometown (more like village). Not that we minded the idea. She doesn’t tell me everything that’s bugging her, or what she is thinking anymore. I saw a bag of her old clothes ready to be given away- that she has grown out of. Spotted a pair of shorts that she likes / wears quite often. This, and last week, were quite significant for me. My parents are moving to a new gated community along with my two older brothers. What is significant; I guess not just for me, is that our parents have been living in this house since 1984, when it was renovated, and since 1975 on that same plot [...] I started this blog about 2 years ago now. Caitlin would have been about 2.5 years old then. If memory serves me right, I would have already done this memorable (at least to me) routine with her already: HM was always working late, so it was up to me to tuck Caitlin into bed. At her [...] The passing of Michael Jackson. It didn’t really hit me much when I heard this news- I was driving to work in traffic when it came on the radio. After all he’s been out of the limelight in recent years, only within the last few months that he’d announced a comeback with (kick-off?) concerts in [...] I have mentioned about his shifty eyes, looking at Daddee funny with an attitude, when he was only 6 months old. Now he doesn’t look at me when I tell him off. He’d sometimes take forever to finish his bottle of milk. 3/4 through and he’d stop, get off the sofa, wanders around for whatever / whoever. [...] Well, alright- he’s been walking for about 3 weeks now. Check out the various expressions during his stroll in Grandad’s front yard! Told you he’s a good looking kid after all with this crewcut And again, it’s not Daddee. He’s been pronouncing; more like uttering, “words” beginning with “D”. Such as “duh duh duh duh…” or “den den den…” Tonight, I kinda figured out how to “spell” something he’s been uttering for about a week now. Ardent; without the “t” of course. On a related matter of his development, his walking is a [...] This is a snapshot of a short video clip I took of Caleb starting to walk! That was the first weekend of April 2009; Caleb was born in Jan 2008. Tonight he’d managed pretty much 30 feet of walking! Won’t be long now before we’d have to start chasing him! And installing a gate at the top [...] Hands slipped forward, chin connected wirh the floor! Found this “comic” app for iPhone. Heh. Caitlin knows her Mandarin counting from 1 – 10, audibly. As in, she can cite it. But give her a break, thus far it’s only in ascending order She also knows her roman numbers already (or do I mean gregorian?? You know- the numbers on your keyboard); proved herself repeatedly in the lift and [...] I started this post earlier, then other things got in the way, such as bring-home-work and kids-needing-Daddee stuff, and Daddee needing sleep stuff so that Daddee can bring more bring-home-work for Hot Mummee to complain about! So how was your weekend? Mine was fairly interesting. Saturday morning was when Caitlin’s school scheduled the year’s first parent teacher [...] “Caleb, Caleb…. 1.. “taaaaaaannnnnnn!” Caleb turned 1 in Jan ‘09. Today he did these…. And then, for the first time(s?) in his life, he stood! The following pic was actually not the first time he managed to stand. That first time that he did manage to stand, we broke into cheers and applause that frightened him, and literally made him weak [...] It was a successful affair! We had achieved the desired outcome! My parents had invited close relatives and friends, and had wanted to keep the affair not-to-big. So naturally the guest list was crafted by them. Seatings were also generally determined by them, as sometimes one has to try and please as many as possible [...] I would say that in planning for this event, my niece has had her first taste in project (event?) managing and executing a pretty major event, even if it’s only a family affair. And being the cheeky uncle that I am, during times of emailing and IM-ing with her I pressured her highlighting things like “Are [...] Those of you invited, or know people who are invited, please don’t disclose this. It is my parents’ 50th anniversary this year, and also a joint celebration for my mum’s birthday. But my dad doesn’t want people to know these. He is kinda shy about it, you see.
