Ugghh.. I'm dreading the change. When you're a parent you can't help but to jump through all the hoops with your kids, huh? So glad to hear she has adjusted well.

Preschool here isn’t compulsory. One has to start schooling only at age 7, in Jan of the year they turn 7; unlike Down Under where (as I understand it) you start school *the day* you turn 5.

But it’s just that it is becoming quite common for kids to start preschooling here, and also gives them a headstart in the basics. Caitlin already knows her alphabets, some 4 letter words (!) and some counting already…

I think it is amazing that she is dealing with older peers, immersion in several languages and homework. Preschool sounds so formal and full on over there. I know we say that we start school at 5 here in Oz but I think it would be the equivalent of Pre 1 or Pre 2 at best and without the homework LOL Well done Caitlin!
