I did this a child, my mother cured me of it quickly. A pitcher of ice water over my head made sure I never did it again.

Oooo....manipulative little tike, that is why never ever underestimate how smart they are. Geniuses are normally "difficult" but your comment about Caleb looking at you in a certain way really made me LOL and almost in tears. He does have that mischievious glint in those big round eyes so I wonder...hmmm. Of course the doting Grandma will not believe Caleb is capable of manipulating her, you try telling this to his 2 other grand-aunts, I am sure there will be moments of silence and disbelief. Aah...waiting in anticipation to watch Caleb's growing years

hahahhaha I knew I wasn't the only one!!! :) my inlaws look at me as if Im a evil mother! (they would be right hehe) cos I let em bawl and cuddly daddy and I will be talking normally as if nothing happened. just say let me know when you are done. :)

ann, best not to look at em. it's quite funnny, cos they'd peek at you and see if u are looking. HAHAHHAA

the mirror idea is a good one. I remember the one time when all three of them were having a "moment" while we were out. I sat there, sipping at my drink, this lady at the next table couldnt tahan, scold me for ignoring my kids while they are crying. j1 told her, no, we will finish in a minute! don't scold mummy.

after that, I just CRACKED up and laughed my head off. This lady scooted away. prob thought I was one odd "foreigner". hehehehehehhee

I've learnt to have a thick skin wor, even when out. although I think I yell too much at them sigh.

AND....another tyrant is born!

I so know this! In fact when my boy does it now, I just sigh and look at him until he is done!

Then I go about my usual business.

We should catch videos on this and show to them when they get older....or better yet, in their wedding video! hahaha...

Haha!
Well last night he was at it again- the crying, not the passing out!

We did what you do: let him cry it out....

I did this with Caitlin once, I believe, when she was just a young'un. But I don't recall having to do it much though, she was a rather easy baby (relative to my niece who was an angel, Caitlin is only "alright"!)

We let Caleb cry it out. Mummee and I were quiet at first; I was seated away from them. Then when Mummee and I started talking to each other, Caleb actually stopped for a while. It was as if he realised we weren't fussing over him (anymore) and looked rather bewildered Hey! Remember me??

I am reminded of what my older brother did with his son (angel's brother!) When he cried, my brother would carry him and put him in a dark room's corner, much like your are you done tactic. Only pick him up when he stopped. I think he did break him....

Looks like we'd have to employ these tested tactics too with my own boy!
