Back to work…

Hiatus…. But now I am back.

Was away for a 3-day Leadership Development Programme at work. Was taught, among other things, how to juggle! Okay, the “justification” for that in the leadership training is that: We are so conditioned to wanna catch a falling ball, that we should be able to re-teach / re-condition our being (our mental self) to adapt. In this analogy, to be able to learn to let the ball drop into our hands….

The training was conducted at our, surprise surprise, training centre, or more aptly, the academy. We have an adjoining hotel as well for visiting (exchange?) crew to stay. Since the training involved long hours, most of us opted to get a room for ourselves.

So, not surprisingly, despite “negotiating” with Caitlin that I will be away for “only 2 sleeps”, she still had to get Hot Mummee to call me at bedtime. Both nights. Not that I was able to chat long when she called; first night we were still discussing a case study, the second night we were at a pub. Oops.

Tonite, I am back in the ole habitat. Hot Mummee immediately rostered my turn to be with Caleb tonite: Milk feeds in the wee hours…. sigh. I didn’t catch much sleep from the 2 nights because the first night we worked till late (and thus the organisers’ suggestion of getting a hotel room) and for the second night, well, after the pub I only managed a few hours sleep before the nearby mosque woke me with the early prayers, and somehow I couldn’t go back to sleep even though I could on the first night….

Will try and perfect that juggling thing… at least now I have a reason for my kids to think I am a hero! Caitlin was already going WAAAHHHH when I only managed 3-4 cycles. Heh.

Yyyyaaawwwwnnnnn……..

I always salute working parents who are still very involved in their children’s lives. I don’t know how they can still function properly on either or both sides. Keep juggling, Daddee. You are keeping it all up quite well. :)
