I can totally relate - although I have been at home (with the odd exception) for almost 8 months now. It has almost gotten to the stage where I miss room service food - lol.

Daddee is right in that technology made it easier, mostly, but the hard thing when being away is not being able to get home if needed. I still remember the time I took a call from my hysterical wife telling me that someone had tried to break into the house and had smashed the front door and got blood all over the place. Sure I was able to see them all over the internet, talk to them for the next few hours, but nothing can replace actually being able to be there and offer that physical reassurance that everything will or is ok.

I think since that incident I find any seperation far more traumatic than my kids do these days.

I know what you're going though, although no one can fully grasp the joy and pain of another's heart. But, hey we all have kids we adore and it's hard to be away from them, and it's hard to know it's hard for them to be away from us too. Micah always says that he'll miss me too much, even if I were to just run tothe store for 10 minutes without him.

What apron strings? My boys are like super glue stuck to me.
